The Georgia U-20 rugby team is preparing at “Shevardeni” base with expanded composition. On Friday they will hold a test match against “Clermont” Espoirs.
On Monday “Little Lelos” held an open practice and talked about the upcoming tournament.
Ilia Maisuradze (head coach of the U-20 team): “We have a lot of information about Uruguay. They have a good scrum and are aggressive in defense. In short, they have good boys”.
Last year Fiji played in elite and took the last place. They held good matches, are good at open playing and have fast boys. But they have problem in organizing and we must use it. It is easy to say but if we do not give ball to Fiji, everything will be alright.
Now we are working on defense-offence. Unfortunately, we have only two meetings. Some members of the team play in France, others in Kutaisi. That is why we had only 3-day meetings. But now everybody is with us. Beka Kakabadze plays for “Clermont” Espoirs and will help the club in the next match. Zaza Kharebava is injured”.
Badri Alkhazashvili (rugby player): “We are preparing quite well. Unfortunately, we could not hold many friendly matches against high level teams. It is good that “Clermont” is paying a visit to us. Besides “Clermont”, another match is also planned. The team will be made of players from the championship and we will face them in Rustavi. I think we will show a good match in Portugal as well”.
Tornike Bubuteishvili (rugby player): “We will have tough opponents. Uruguay has a good team. Fiji has regress at World Cup. We beat Portugal in final twice but now they want revenge. Fiji has strong opponents. Success of the U-18 team is a great stimulus for us. We will try to make through to final and win”.
