Pervukhin Threatens, Cold Mind Beat Russia

In spite of that the Georgia national team beat Russia 33:0, the match turned out to be tough.

At the post-match press conference coaches and captains of the both teams made accent on this. The coach of “Bears” stated he lacked players. The captain of “The Lelos” stated inconclusive game in the first half was caused by emotions.

Alexander Pervukhin (head coach of the Russia national team): “We played 70 minutes well in defense. I think overall, it was a very interesting match. We could not earn 9 points in the first half and it had effect on the match. I think we had advantage in the first half. We had no illusions about scrum but we lost lineout which was unexpected. Despite the score, I am delighted with the game of my team and I congratulate Georgia on victory.

We lacked some players because they play for Sevens team. Believe me, there is a match ahead and we will have all important players. Thanks to the Georgian fans. Some insulted us but anyway, thanks, and please, do not mix sport and politics”.

Andrei Temnov (captain of the Russia national team): “There was unbelievable atmosphere at the stadium. It is always pleasant for us to play in front of crowded tribunes. It is very tough to play 70 minutes in defense”.

Milton Haig (head coach of the Georgia national team): “The system did not work in the first half. We lacked sequence. It is tough to gain advantage without sequence. We will work on our mistakes.

I have stated before Russia is a good team. The opponent played well but we beat them by better level and earned 24 points at the end of the match. In the dressing room I told the boys we lacked sequence. Tomorrow we will have a rest. The day after tomorrow we will start preparing for Romania. Our main goal is World Cup”.

Shalva Sutiashvili (captain of the Georgia national team): “I think we lacked patience at the beginning of the match. It is tough to play freely in front of so many fans. We are humans and emotions controlled us. In the end, when we got tired there were less emotions and everything went well. I want to note I have played Russia many times but this team has never been so strong before”.
