Georgian national rugby team will play against New Zealand in the final stage of World Sevens Cup, which is planned to be held in the capital of Russia, Moscow on June 18-30. It is going without saying that if this tournament was in classical rugby it would be paid more attention in Georgian rugby fans, but playing against “All Blacks” must be interesting, no matter what level it is.
As far as you know, before holding a ballot in Moscow, Georgian sevens team was seeded in the fourth pool and we should not wait for easy opponents. After ballot we have desirable opponents.
Besides New Zealand, Georgian rugby players will play against the USA and Canada in group D and there is a chance of taking the second place. Winner of six groups and two best second place winners go through the 1/8 final and will fight for the main prize.
As far as you know, Wales is the current champion and it is in group E, where its opponents are Fiji, Tonga and Uruguay. Host Russia plays against South Africa, France and Japan.
The logo of the tournament is again a bear. As you know the same animal was logo of 1980 Olympic Games.
